Environmental risk assessments
Site-specific assessments that identify real risks, with controls your team can actually implement.

Operational experience. Practical solutions.
An ERA is only useful if the controls in it can actually be implemented by your crew — that's the test we apply, because we've been the crew running them.
What is an environmental risk assessment?
An Environmental Risk Assessment (ERA) is a structured, site-specific document that identifies the environmental hazards associated with your activities, evaluates the likelihood and consequence of each one, and sets out the controls needed to manage them.
Â
It's a core piece of evidence that your business understands and is managing its environmental risk — and a foundation document for your broader compliance framework.
Why do you need one?
If your site stores waste, or is permissioned by EPA Victoria to store or process waste materials, an adequate risk assessment is a requirement — not an optional extra. It underpins your ability to demonstrate compliance with the General Environmental Duty and is often a specific condition of your EPA permission.
How CRA can help
We come to site to get a thorough, first-hand understanding of your operations.
Â
Our operational background means we understand your business in a way a desk-based consultant simply can't. Understanding how a site actually operates is critical to determining effective controls that can be applied in real-world conditions.
We work through the process with you, drawing on our own operational experience to make practical suggestions, then develop the ERA specifically for your business and activity.
Â
These are extensive, detailed documents designed to properly inform your staff of the environmental risks at your site — which is exactly why it's important they're done right.
CRA are environmental risk experts who have produced many risk assessments for waste and manufacturing sites throughout Victoria.
